GREENVILLE - An unexpected windfall from GEUS led to debate Tuesday among council on how to use the extra money.
They would eventually vote 5-2 to keep the same tax rate of 69.9 cents per $100 valuation that was originally proposed.
Some council members wanted to use the extra funds to lower the tax rate. But the majority of council decided to use the remaining $450,000 in additional franchise fee payments made by GUES toward street repairs.
