This week, consumer finance website NerdWallet crunched some numbers from a study by the Martin Prosperity Institute and came up with a list of 126 "cities on the rise in Texas." Greenville was listed in the number nine spot.
Some of the factors contributing to the high rank, according to this post, were:
- a 12.3% median income increase from 2009 to 2012
- the planned Fritz Industries plant expected to bring 250 new jobs
- a proposed toll road that could connect Greenville to Wylie
- the availability of workforce training at the PJC Greenville campus
Other cities on the top ten list include The Woodlands, Mansfield, Del Rio, Big Spring, Schertz, University Park, College Station, Mission, and Nacogdoches.
