Interstate 30 and the campuses of Paris Junior College and Greenville High School may be connected by a new road before the end of the year.
The Monty Stratton Parkway could also help lead the way to additional economic development in the area. The L.H. Lacy Company of Dallas was unanimously approved Tuesday for the project.
The parkway will run between Lions Lair Road and the interstate, and is projected to be two concrete lanes with ditches on either side and a raised median. Two crossovers will be included in the project, and a sidewalk will run along one side of the road-way. The plan calls for stop signs at the intersections of the Interstate 30 frontage road and Lions Lair Road, but no traffic signals.
