This week on Movie Picks with Alice Reese, she reviews Burnt starring Bradley Cooper, Room starring an Oscar-worthy Brie Larson, Our Brand is Crisis from Dallas native David Gordon Green, and Truth starring Cate Blanchett as Dallas native Mary Mapes.
Burnt is a movie about a burned out chef played by Bradley Cooper. He gets his second chance, and is joined by his sous chef played by Sienna Miller. Alice really enjoyed this movie, and while it wasn't perfect, Cooper helps it out.
Room is a movie that sounds depressing, but Alice assures us it is not. Brie Larson stars as a kidnapped young woman, who has lived in captivity for seven years with her 5-year old son, Jack. Alice thought this movie was beautifully crafted and uplifting.
Our Brand is Crisis stars Sandra Bullock as a political strategist pulled out of her solitude. The ending has a sweet twist that Alice didn't expect, and she recommends it highly. Dallas native David Gordon Green directed the movie.
Truth is based on the memoir of Dallas native Mary Mapes, who used to be a high-profile TV producer. Cate Blanchett stars in an Oscar nomination worthy performance, and Alice recommends this movie. Robert Redford also stars, and James Vanderbilt wrote and directed the movie.
That's it for this week's Movie Picks with Alice Reese, but you can check out more movies next week during All Things Considered at 4:50 and 5:50 on Friday or you can always find her here online.
