Herd of Gelada Baboons in Simien National Park.

Simien Mountains National Park in Ethiopia is home to numerous endangered species, and allows visitors a chance to get up close and personal with creatures such as the Gelada Baboon.

During a visit to the park in 2015, Mary was able to witness first hand the majestic landscapes, and stand within feet of an entire herd of wild baboons.

A transcript of this story, and additional photos, are available at the Mary Clark Traveler Blog.

Mary Clark Traveler airs Tuesdays at 4:50 and 5:50 during All Things Considered on KETR.
