Residents hoping to change plans for new donut shop

City of Greenville

GREENVILLE - The Greenville Planning and Zoning Commission and the Greenville City Council intend next week to consider whether to grant a conditional use permit.

This which would allow the restaurant to be built at 50026 Del Ray Drive, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and FM 1570.

Nearby homeowners have filed a petition arguing against the issuance of the permit, amid fears of increased traffic through the neighborhood. Larry Loper with Loper Construction is seeking the permit to be allowed to build the 1,300-square-foot Donut Palace bakery.

More than 30 residents of the adjacent Country Club Estates subdivision have signed a petition, citing concerns over traffic, trash, parking and damage to roads in the community, and asking that alterations to the plan for the donut shop be considered to lessen the impact to the neighborhood.
