The Ja-Lu Municipal Swimming Pool in Greenville is scheduled to open for the summer with a free swim Saturday.

The Greenville City Council voted last week to contract with the YMCA of Greenville and Hunt County to run the pool this summer. Under the agreement, the YMCA will supply aquatics staff and manage the day-to-day operations at the pool while the City of Greenville will still be responsible for the maintenance  of the facility.

The regular daily admission price will be $5 for adults 18 and over and $4 for youth, with a pool pass punch card offering 10 visits for $30. Children under 3 are admitted at no charge. Hours will be from 1 until 7 p.m. daily.

The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department has begun accepting reservations for pool parties and swim lesson. Party reservations and swim lesson registration may be made at the Greenville Municipal Auditorium Building, 2821 Washington Street, or online at www.inparksweplay.com.

Payments must be paid in full at the time of the reservation and reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis. Rental and registration fees must be paid in full at the time of reservation. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

Private party reservations may be made for 7 – 9 p.m., Fridays – Sundays from June 7 – August 9. The fee is $140 per hour and there is a two hour limit for all party rentals. The rental fee includes as many lifeguards as necessary to oversee the party.

New this season, birthdays and special occasions may not be celebrated during public pool hours, as well. The Ja-Lu Pool Pavilion may be reserved for parties between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Tuesdays – Sundays. The $30 fee includes a pavilion with picnic tables in two hour increments.
