The National Weather Service in Fort Worth recently offered a storm spotter training program in Delta County in preparation for the 2015 severe weather season.

The free SKYWARN class was held in partnership with Delta County Emergency Management and hosted many local volunteer fire fighters and potential storm spotters.

It discussed thunderstorm formation, ingredients, and features associated with severe and non-severe storms along with procedures for spotter operations and recommended reporting protocol.

Residents are reminded a regular testing schedule of the emergency siren for the first Monday of each month around noon will be performed by the Klondike Fire Department starting on April 6.
