United Way Expands Summer Lunch Program

Hunt County United Way
Hunt County United Way

Frances Dalbey, executive director of the Hunt County United Way, says the organization will offer its Summer Lunch Program for children in Commerce, Lone Oak and Quinlan as well as Greenville this summer.  Lunches will be provided free of charge at the First Presbyterian Church and another site yet to be determined in Commerce and at Community Seeds in Lone Oak.  The "Mobile Learning Cafe," a refurbished school bus, will serve children in the Quinlan area, but will not begin operation until summer school ends, and so its dates of operation will be July 18-August 18.  The program will be available at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the Clark Street Christian Church in Greenville.  In its first year, the program provided 6,000 meals to children.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
