Commerce Chamber of Commerce manager Paul Voss and the chairman of the Hunt County Transportation Steering Committee, Dee Hilton, discuss the $24.4 million road bond election Nov. 8. The bonds would enable the county to compete for $2.5-3 billion in state and federal funding to improve and extend major highways in Hunt County. One project would be a grade separation (raising or lowering) of Highway 24 in Commerce, which runs past the Texas A&M University-Commerce, making it safer for students to walk across the road.
