Diana Hines, a member of the Commerce Public Library board of directors, discusses the library's General Equivalency Diploma (GED) program, which she says is now available online. The library also has volunteers who will work individually with students. The GED training is part of the library's Literacy Program. The late Dr. Otha Spencer, revered member of the Texas A&M University-Commerce faculty, started the library's GED program in the early 1990s. Diana is also director of the A&M-Commerce Writing Center.
