The director of the Hunt Regional Emergency Centers in Commerce and Quinlan, Kim Saenz, says the emergency centers have been exceptionally busy treating cases of the flu and strep in recent weeks. She said the Quinlan center is seeing an average of about 50 patients a day and Commerce just under 40. But on one day, the Commerce center saw 65 patients. Kim said the flu shot may still be helpful, although a number of people who have received the shot this year have contracted the flu anyway.
