Book Club Is a Great Place To Meet Best-Selling Authors

Pulpwood Queens, Facebook

Sharon Feldt, our books commentator from Sulphur Springs, has enjoyed reading "Rules of Magic" by Alice Hoffman, a "prequel" to her earlier novel "Practical Magic," which became a movie with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.  Both books are tales of witchcraft.  Sharon says she met Alice Hoffman at this year's "Pulpwood Queens" book club conference in Nacogdoches, where authors come and visit informally with fans.  Sharon's book club, the Bright Star Literary Society, recently became one of the Pulpwood Queens' chapters.  Also, Sharon sings in the Northeast Texas Choral Society, and in observance of its 20th anniversary, the group will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hopkins County Civic Center.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
