Dr. LaVelle Hendricks, associate professor of counseling at Texas A&M-Commerce and a member of the Commerce school board, is leading "Operation Sweet Treats" December 17-22 in Commerce.  Dr. Hendricks and other community leaders will be riding with Commerce police and handing out candy to children and teens they encounter on the street, in order to show them that the police are their friends and are not to be feared.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
