Sulphur Springs Is National Finalist For Downtown Award; Council Approves Street Maintenance Fee

Cindy Roller

Sulphur Springs Mayor Pro-Tem Emily Glass says the city's downtown area is one of five finalists for the National Urban Excellence Award.  The gold medalist for the Rudy Bruner Award will receive a $50,000 award.   Also, the City Council has enacted a monthly street maintenance fee of $5 for each residence, and larger amounts for various classes of businesses, to establish a dedicated fund for street-improvement projects.
