Commerce Mayor Wyman Williams says the City Council is considering promoting economic development through "opportunity zones" allowed under the federal tax law.  Individuals with capital gains would be able to reinvest in the community in return for tax considerations.  The council discussed some possible opportunity-zone projects in executive session Tuesday.  The mayor says the council approved a conditional-use permit requested to allow a "bar, lounge or tavern" to open on Main Street in downtown Commerce.
