A&M-C Football To Receive New Turf, Dressing Room

A&M-Commerce Athletics

Texas A&M-Commerce Athletic Director Tim McMurray says a new artificial-turf surface will be installed on Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium this summer.  The giant Lion logo, 50 yards in width, will go away when the new turf, which will be a tradtional green, is installed.  Also, a 78-hundred square foot addition to the football dressing rooms will be built.  The Lions will have a 10-game schedule in 2019, as efforts to add a home game in the first week of the season have not been successful.  The Lions will open the season Sept. 14 at Western Oregon, with the first home game Sept. 21 vs. Eastern New Mexico.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
