A&M-C Football, Volleyball In Position For NCAA Playoffs

A&M-Commerce Athletics

Tim McMurray, Texas A&M-Commerce athletic director, says the Lion football team, ranked 23rd in the country and sixth in the regional rankings, needs to win at Angelo State at 3 p.m. Saturday to be assured of an NCAA Division 2 playoff invitation.  But he says it's possible both A&M-Commerce and Angelo State, ranked seventh in the region, could make the playoffs, because a three-loss team will likely make the regional field.  A&M-Commerce volleyball has a chance to host the Lone Star Conference tournament next weekend if the team does well in this weekend's regular-season ending games against UT-Tyler, at 6 p.m. Friday night in Tyler and at 2 p.m. Saturday in Commerce.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
