Commerce ISD superintendent Charlie Alderman says the state legislature provided full funding of the state's public schools in the session that ended last week, meaning no budget cuts will be necessary. The superintendent says he is disappointed by the "controversial topics" bill, which will discourage teachers from teaching critical-race theory in their classes. He says that should be left to teachers, administrators and school boards to decide.
