Fannin County Electric Cooperative reported about 1,100 customers without electricity after the storm.

  • Today survey teams from the National Weather Service will be on site in Collin County as well as other sites across Texas to record damage from last night’s severe weather. The worst damage seems to be in Johnson and Ellis Counties, on the south side of the DFW area. People in Johnson County around Alvarado and Lillian spotted an apparent tornado last night around 11 p.m. In Ellis County, an 18-wheeler parked at the Love’s travel stop was flipped over by high winds. Johnson County’s emergency manager told Dallas media that at least one person was hospitalized with storm-related injuries and about half a dozen homes had their roofs blown off. A shelter has been set up in Alvarado for those displaced by the storm.
  • In Collin County, a storm with rotation identified on radar passed through Celina and then moved on to the northeastern part of the county, near Blue Ridge. The storm then traveled to the east near the Fannin County – Hunt County line. Fannin County Electric Cooperative reported about 1100 of its customers were without power last night.
  • National Weather Service crews will also be on site in Kaufman County, near Kemp and in Van Zandt County, northeast of Mabank.
