Human skeletal remains found in Rains County

Multiple law enforcement vehicles were in western Rains County near U.S. Hwy. 276 on Wednesday.

  • In Rains County yesterday, law enforcement officers recovered what they’re describing as “human skeletal remains.” A statement from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday, local officials received a report of the remains being found on a property in Rains County. The Texas Rangers along with the Rains and Hunt County sheriff’s offices are investigating. No further information was released. Yesterday multiple law enforcement vehicles were observed along U.S. Highway 276 in western Rains County.
  • In Greenville, an 18-year-old man has been arrested and now faces a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of a 17-year-old woman last week. On Tue. Nov. 22, Bethany Ann England, age 17, died as a result of gunshot wounds. Police say England was accidentally shot by the 18-year-old who was handling a rifle he thought was unloaded. The incident happened at a home in the 2100 block of Henry Street. Police say the man has been arrested, but neither his name nor any other details were released.
  • In sports, the Texas A&M University-Commerce men’s basketball team defeated the University of Hawaii last night in a game played in Honolulu. The Lions won by a 53-51 score. The A&M-Commerce women are scheduled to play at Southern Utah today. 1 p.m. tipoff.
