Lone Star Conference Delaying Fall Sports Until Sept. 21, For Now

Texas A&M-Commerce Athletics

Tim McMurray, Texas A&M-Commerce AthleticDirector, discusses the decision of the Lone Star Conferece to delay the start of practices for fall sports until August 24 and games until September 21.  However, Tim says it is a very fluid situation and further changes could be announced, depending on what the NCAA decides to do about the schedule for the national playoffs.

McMurray says it's expected that the LSC teams will only play conference games in the fall, meaning non-conference football games vs. West Florida, Azusa Pacific and Bowie State will be lost, although Tim says he expects an announcement concerning future games with West Florida soon.  A&M-Commerce defeated West Florida for the NCAA Division 2 championship in 2017, and West Florida won the D-2 championship last season.
