Atmos 'Flaring' Will Heat Up Commerce Aug. 10-14

Wyman Williams, Commerce mayor, says Atmos Energy, which provides natural gas to Commerce, will be "flaring" lines on West Live Oak Street near the Ben E. Keith building August 10-14 as a way of cleaning out the lines.  This will involve burning off gas in the lines, which the mayor says will be a hot and noisy process.  Atmos is advising occupants of a nearby apartment building.  Also, Wyman says the city has received 51 applicants for the city manager's position, and the city council will be reviewing the applications next week.
