  • Luke visits this week with veteran catfish guide David Hanson (903-268-7391). Hanson has devised a sure-fire method of putting limits of channel catfish in the boat and escaping the summer heat. He has baited holes under a bridge and begins trips during early morning. Catching is fast and furious as you will learn. Luke fished earlier this week at Lake Fork with David and will cover the trip this week in the 51 Texas newspapers that carry his column, including the Greenville Herald Banner. You don’t have to be a member of DSC to attend. Tickets are available at the door. Tonight DSC Foundation will hold its annual Summer Gala. The event is sold our, but anyone can go to (www.onlinehuntingauctions.com), find the DSC Foundation Summer Gala icon, to bid on the many fabulous items going up for auction tonight.
  • Luke's guest this week is Patrick Hotard with the First British Flight Training School Museum (www.bftsmuseum.org) in Terrell, Tx. Patrick tells all about a fun hunting seminar that will be held at the museum on Aug 2 at 3:30 pm. Luke will be a guest speaker as well as Jeff Rice to discuss filming hunts, Steven Travis with Three Curls Outfitters to discuss thermal hog hunting and Hunter Barber to talk shooting. Refreshments and door prizes and admission is free. Come join the fun!
  • Following a long run teaching law at Texas State University, San Marcos-based Lynn Crossett has set sights on music as his primary focus.
  • Luke's good friend Bill Carey with Striper Express (www.striperexpress.com) is guest today. Luke and Bill discuss an action packed striper trip on Lake Texoma where they enjoyed some fast paced action fishing for stripers under flocks of gulls diving to feed on shad driven to the surface by hungry stripers. Back at the dock, cut bait produced some jumbo size blue catfish up to 38 pounds. Having great friends Edgar and David Cotton along make this trip even more special.
  • Luke talks about a recent trip up in southeast Oklahoma hunting on land owned by the Choctaw Nation, 40 thousand acres of beautiful mountain country and headquarters for The Choctaw Hunting Lodge (www.choctawhuntinglodge.com).Luke was fortunate to harvest a mule foot Choctaw hog.   • On this week's show Luke gives a very current update on what hunters in northeast Texas might expect this weekend for the opener of the general deer season. Buck have been coming in to antler rattling for a few days and now, in the early stage of the rut is prime time to put those rattling antlers to work. Catfishin' has been very good off the dock at Wind Point Park (www.windpointparktx.com) on punch bait, especially in areas baited with soured grain or cattle range cubes.
