NASA

Dr. Kent Montgomery, head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M-Commerce, says the University's observatory will be open starting at 9:30 p.m. Sunday night (May 15) for the total lunar eclipse, which will produce a "blood moon," colored red.

Dr. Montgomery says the prime viewing time will be during the totality of the eclipse, from about 10:30 p.m. to 11:50 p.m. Sunday night. The observatory is about five miles south of Commerce on County Road 4208 a short distance off of State Highway 24.
