Commerce ISD Requires Visitors To Be Approved Before Entering Schools; Two Police Officers On Duty

KETR

Commerce ISD Superintendent Charlie Alderman, reflecting on the mass murder of students and teachers at a Uvalde elementary school, says Commerce schools all require visitors to be visually identified before they are allowed to enter a school, and then they are further delayed from entry in a vestibule before entering the main area of the school.

The superintendent says there have been times when doors that are normally locked have been propped open, but more emphasis will now be given to not doing this. He says the Commerce ISD has two full-time police officers, above average for a district of its size. And he says the Board of Trustees will studying further security measures over the summer.
