White Sand Beaches Return To Cooper Lake State Park

Cooper Lake State Park, Facebook

Cooper Lake State Park superintendent Steve Killian says the park has again imported white sand for the swimming beaches at the Doctors Creek and South Sulphur units.

Steve says the park brought in 10 or 11 semi-trailer loads of white sand, which is also spread on the park's sand volleyball courts. Numerous programs and activities are scheduled at the park throughout the summer. Steve says, while cabins and campsites are completely booked on the weekends throughout the summer, it is possible to make camping reservations for mid-week dates.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
