Sept. 27 Morning Newscast

  • COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Hunt County, but holding steady in Hopkins County, according to numbers from the Texas Dept. of State Health Services.
  • The Hunt Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors is expected to name a replacement for retiring CEO Richard Carter on Tuesday. Carter is scheduled to retire in December.
  • The Hunt County Commissioners Court is expected to approve Tuesday a significant increase for the county’s volunteer fire departments – about twice the amount of previous allocations.
  • Texas A&M University-Commerce athletics are expected to move to the Southland Conference of NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Series classification. Several reports of the move were published Friday evening. The university has not confirmed, but news conferences are scheduled for Tuesday.
