Larry Weishuhn aka "Mr. Whitetail" joins Luke this week and the two old friends 'scattergun' a number of topics including hunting axis deer and upcoming events at Dallas Safari Club (www.biggame.org) as well as a turkey hunt this week at the Choctaw Hunting Lodge (www.choctawhuntinglodge.com) in southeast Oklahoma.

    Wild hogs changing the Texas ecosystem
    Luke's guest this week is MIke Ford, well known quarterback for SMU back in the eighties. Mike and his wife Lori own a ranch in northern Red River County that was one of the premier areas for the eastern wild turkey/ . Up until a decade or so ago, the birds were flourishing here and in several counties along the Red River. Mike talks about damage wild hogs have done to not only nesting turkeys but quail as well. There used to be a healthy population of timber rattlers in the area and in the summer in May when the snakes are mating, it was common to see them along roadsides. Mike says he has not encountered a rattler in the area for several years. Wild hogs are certainly changing the east Texas ecosystem.

    Recapping a turkey hunt
    This week Luke is joined by his long time friend Bill Carey (www.striperexpress.com). The two old friends recap a very fun and successful turkey hunt earlier this week. A big gobbler was harvested and a tasty lunch of chicken fried turkey strips was enjoyed under an old oak that provided shade for the cookout. If you love the outdoor experience, you don't want to miss these two old outdoorsmen talking about their adventure.

    Luke visits today with Ms. Tammy McLain of "Red Neck Woman" crappie jigs. Tammy has for over three decade worked in skin care, dealing with skin cancer, and she gives some tips to help keep us safe from harmful sun's rays.
