Many familiar names to be honored at Hunt County AALC

KDFW's Shaun Rabb delivered an impassioned oration about the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A list of award recipients begins with a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

Dr. LaVelle Hendricks, president of the Hunt County African American Leadership Conference, shares a partial list with KETR, highlighting the names of people who have been or are currently associated with Texas A&M University-Commerce.

These honorees, along with many others, will be recognized during the 2013 The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Celebration, scheduled for Sunday, January 20th beginning at 2pm at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Commerce.

Sunday's event will feature guest speaker Dr. Rick Balkin, Associate Professor of Counseling at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Jason Cunningham of Benson Brothers of Commerce will be the Master of Ceremonies.

This celebration is free and open to the public.
