New Chief Deputy appointed for the Delta County Sheriff’s Office

As of Thursday, Oct. 1 the Delta County Sheriff’s Office announced the promotion of Charla Singleton as the new Delta County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy from Sergeant.

“Charla has excellent leadership skills, outstanding work ethics and she learns very quickly,” said Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith on her appointment. “She readily accepts responsibility and can be depended upon to appropriately solve problems and resolve issues.  I am proud to make this appointment because I believe she will be an outstanding Chief Deputy.”

She currently holds the most tenure as a commissioned officer with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office with five years as an employee and over four years as a commissioned peace officer. Chief Deputy Singleton is a lifetime resident of Delta County and she currently resides in the Ben Franklin area.

“Charla is replacing former Chief Deputy Donnie Willingham who left Delta County for other employment,” said Sheriff Smith. “I want to extend a special thanks to Donnie for his approximate two and half years of service as Chief Deputy.  Donnie was instrumental in many successes that the Delta County Sheriff’s Office has achieved during his tenure.”

Others promoted included Colton Spinks to the position of Sergeant on October 1, 2015. Officer Spinks has been with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office for over four years.  Along with first line supervision duties he will also help in the follow-up investigation of reported criminal events. Tanner Steward was moved from reserve to full deputy, and Kip Sonntag as new reserve.
