The mayor of Sulphur Springs, Emily Glass, discusses the recent decision of the Luminant company to give the 4,900 acre Thermo coal-mine property to the city. The mine ceased operations about one year ago. The mayor says the property, located southeast of the city, is not suitable for building homes, so the city will develop the property primarily for recreational purposes, such as nature trails, motorcycle competitions, and dog trials, among other ideas.
