Commerce ISD superintendent Charlie Alderman says the school board will take up the issue of making improvements in school safety in an executive session Thursday evening. Commerce ISD police chief Joe Venable will present options to the board for making the schools safer. On Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the superintendent, Commerce Mayor Wyman Williams and Texas A&M-Commerce President Ray Keck will speak in a "State of the City" event at the First Baptist Church.
