Two road improvement projects have started on Farm-to-Market 38 in Delta and Lamar Counties, according to Texas Department of Transportation.

TxDOT reports that Contractor A.K. Gillis & Sons, Sulphur Springs, Texas, was awarded the contract for this project valued at more than $2.4 million. The contractor plans to complete the work in 128 working days, weather permitting, with a target completion date of October 2018. Construction began on April 9, 2018.

The road will be open to traffic at all times but will likely require one-way closures and to expect some temporary delays.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas should remain alert and pay special attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
