'March Madness' Time For Lion Men And Women

Texas A&M-Commerce

Sam Walker, executive director of Alumni Engagement at Texas A&M-Commerce and former Lions head men's basketball coach, says he thinks the men's team has a bid to the NCAA Division 2 tournament locked up going into the Lone Star Conference basketball tournament in Frisco Thursday-Sunday (March 7-10), but he thinks Lion women probably need to win at least one game in the conference tournament to qualify. The Lion men play UT-Permian Basin at 2:30 Thursday (March 7) in the first round, and the Lion women play Eastern New Mexico at 8:30 Friday (March 8).  The tournament championship games are Sunday at 1 and 3.  Sam says Alumni Engagement will host Lion fans at the Rover Grill and Sports Bar at 8250 Gaylord Parkway in Frisco during the tournament.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
