Greenville's Hallmark One Of Many Whose Lives Changed After Pearl Harbor

Wikimedia Commons

Carol Taylor, chairman of the Hunt County Historical Commission, says Dean Hallmark is one of the young men from Greenville and the surrounding area who should be remembered on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor.  Hallmark did not lose his life at Pearl Harbor, but he was one of the pilots on the Doolittle Raidon Tokyo in 1942.  Like many, he had to ditch his plane, and he was captured and executed by the Japanese.  He was a member of the 1933 Greenville state championship football team and played college football at the University of Auburn.  Carol also discusses Truett Majors and others.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
