Lamar County man receives no bill from grand jury

By Kevin Jefferies

Lamar County – A Lamar County man is not going to be tried for shooting and apprehending a bank robber in April. 34 year old John Piper shot the alleged bank robber as he wandered near his property. Police had been on a four hour manhunt searching for the suspect that robbed People's National Bank in Paris.

Piper warned the man, whose pockets were stuffed with cash, to stop and eventually let loose a 20 gauge shotgun blast breaking both of the man's legs. As is common in such cases, the Lamar County Grand Jury no-billed Piper for the shooting.
