Texas A&M University-Commerce associate professor of counseling Dr. LaVelle Hendricks, and president of the Texas Council of Faculty Senates, says the organization opposes Senate Bill 11, which would allow licensed handgun owners to carry handguns on Texas college campuses. Dr. Hendricks says he expects the bill to pass, but the statewide faculty senate group hopes the legislature will allow the universities some measure of discretion in how the law is implemented.
