Hopkins County Courthouse Fitted With Festive Lighting

Cindy Roller

Sulphur SpringsMayor Emily Glass says the Hopkins County Courthouse has recently received a new exterior lighting system that lets the courthouse be lit in colors appropriate to the holiday, such as red and green for Christmas or red, white and blue for the Fourth of July.

Emily reports Sulphur Springs has been hit by "skimmers" at local gasoline pumps, illegal devices that steal credit-card information.  She offers tips for avoiding being a victim.

And the mayor says Sulphur Springs will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration in the downtown "Celebration District" Friday, May 5 and a "Reds, Whites and Brews" beer- and wine-tasting event Saturday, May 6.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
