Pud Kearns with Housewarmers of Greenville says 1970s Greenville Lions football great Ricky Simmons will speak at 9 a.m. Thursday at Greenville Middle School on his triumph over drug addiction and imprisonment.  Simmons played college football at the University of Nebraska and in the USFL.  He will sell and sign copies of his book, "The Explosion of Redemption."  Also, Pud discusses Food Truck Friday at the Greenville Sports Park at 6 p.m. Friday.

Greenville City and ISD police thursday charged a 14-year-old Greenville Middle School student with making a terroristic threat after they say he allegedly texted a friend that he would "shoot up the school."

In a statement, the city police department said the girl was arrested Thursday morning and taken to the Grayson County Juvenile Detention Center. She reportedly told officers that she was joking; that she'd "seen all of the news involving school shootings and thought it would be funny to scare her friends," according to the statement.

Heavy rainfall on Thursday caused flash flooding across Northeast Texas with some areas seeing over 6" of rainfall.

Emergency responders closed off multiple roads across Hunt County including Charity road and Culver street in Commerce, and also Hwy 69 north of Greenville.
