Luke writes a weekly outdoors column for over 30 Texas newspapers and is Hunting Editor for Airgun Hobbyist Magazine, Field Editor for the Dallas Safari Club and feature writer for several outdoor magazines. Fishing "baited holes" is a sure fire way of concentration channel catfish during the summer months on any lake with a healthy population of catfish.

Fork remains an excellent bass lake but Large has learned that many of his clients enjoy fishing some of the smaller lakes that are currently providing some excellent fishing.

This week, Lake Tawakoni catfish guide David Hanson (903-268-7391) joins Luke and talks about catching blue catfish during a time of plenty when the bite is changing from "trophy" season during the winter months to now, when large numbers of "eater" size catfish are the norm. On a trip earlier this week, Luke and his daughter Ashley with family friend Karrissa joined Hanson for some fast paced catfish action and left the dock with 5 gallons of snow white blue catfish fillets. Will is on the cutting edge of the proposed use of Warfarin (used in rat poison) to kill wild hogs. Luke's guest this week is Will Herring, founder and owner of Wild Boar Meat Company in Hubbard, Texas. Will and Luke discuss the recent ruling by the Texas Agricultural Commission to allow Warfarin to kill hogs in Texas. If the use of poison is allowed, companies that currently process wild hogs may have to close their doors. Hog trappers may also be put out of business as there will be no market for the hogs. 

Luke's guest this week is river fishing guide Shane Davies with River Run Guide Service (www.shanedaviesguide.com). Shane has for many years guided trips on the Brazos and Devil's River. During the course of this weeks show, you will get a good feel for the skills and down right courage necessary to guide anglers on remote waters. Catfish anglers will want to make sure and tune in this week. Lake Tawakoni guide David Hanson divulges a new pattern that is producing lots and lots of blue catfish  weighing between 2 and 6 pounds with the occasional larger fish. This pattern should hold steady until the onset of cooler weather when the trophy blue season begins.

This week, Luke is talking about hunting the whitetail rut. The second split of duck season also opens this weekend and there is a bit of duck hunting talk mixed in. Also, barn door size crappie are biting well at Lake O' The Pines and guide Seth Vanover (www.lakeforkcatandcrappie.com) has been hammering them. Luke is covering lots of bases this week but with some very current, useful information.
