Huge Church Rummage Sale - One Day Only!
Saturday, September 13th - 7:30am - 4:00pm

Learn about bats that live at the Heard and see our new bat boxes. Explore the thrilling sights, smells, and sounds of night with Heard Trail Guides. Night hikers will be encouraged to sharpen their senses to be able to spot signs of animal life and learn more about the inhabitants of the Heard. Ages 3 years through adult. Pre-registration required. Members: $12, Non-members: $14.

Beginning the week of September 16 through December 9, preschoolers will have the opportunity to explore all that the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney, Texas has to offer. During each weekly program, we’ll meet one of the Heard’s live animal ambassadors and take a nature hike to explore different habitats from wetlands and forests to prairie and ponds. We’ll also prowl through museum exhibits, participate in hands-on science activities, sing songs, listen to stories, and play nature themed games! We’ll talk about our responsibility to nature and what we can do to help the plants and animals around us.
Pre-registration is required. Registration closes September 3. Non-members $240; Members $216 per semester (Per semester: 24 hour program/12 weeks).

Texas A&M University - Commerce hosts an event honoring Hispanic Heritage month on Wednesday. The event kicks off with a TAMUC Mariachi info session- featuring Drs. Tomas Espinosa and Eric Branscome.

Then, Alfredo Corchado, a retired journalist and acclaimed author, will give a presentation followed by a Q&A session. That’s starting at 5 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center on campus at A&M Commerce - located at 2101 University Drive.

Since 1986, Commerce has proudly hosted the Bois d’Arc Bash every 4th weekend in September, and this year marks our 39th BASH — it’s going to be totally bodacious! 😎
Why the celebration? We honor the tough and unique Bois d’Arc tree (aka Osage orange, hedge apple, or horse apple tree), and we invite YOU to join us in the Bois d’Arc Capital of Texas for an unforgettable weekend of fun!

Bread of Life Food Pantry distributes free food to those in need. Family and Senior Commodity Boxes available at all distributions. Located at 301 Hwy 224, Commerce, TX. Most boxes consist of canned vegetables, rice, pasta, peanut butter, cereal, juice, and canned meat. We also offer frozen meat, bread and fresh produce when in stock. New clients bring a photo ID and proof of address. For example, current utility bill. Our distribution days are the first Friday after the first Wednesday 10:00am – 2:00pm for seniors 60 plus, and everyone younger from 12:00pm – 2:00pm and on the 3rd Wed of the month from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. We also offer Emergency Boxes to families who can’t wait for a distribution day. Volunteers and donations are always welcome. Thank you.
