The Art Gallery at East Texas A&M University is hosting a FREE waterolor painting workshop, where you will make your own watercolor bird painting. This event is part of the Gallery's celebration of the current exhibit - Of Birds and Texas: The Gentling Brothers and Their Magnificent Book.

The event is FREE and open to the general public, but registration IS required and space is limited. Please send an email to thegallery@etamu.edu to register.

Kids' Book Club Returns in September

For 4th & 5th graders

This month's theme: kids choose the book.

Bring a favorite book you've been reading and share it with the group — funny stories, adventures, mysteries, or anything hard to put down.

Kids can share their pick, discover new books, and meet other young readers.

Pokémon day at the Commerce Public Library: play, trade cards, and meet fellow Pokémon fans!

Every 3rd Saturday of the month from noon to 2 p.m. !

Commerce Public Library's Adult Book Club meets on the last Thursday of each month!

For September, they're reading any book written by Jenny Lawson. Her books are nonfiction memoirs and extremely funny. The past few months have been such serious and depressing subject matter books, so it's time for a giggle break.

Here is a list of her books:
-Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir (2012)
-Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things (2015)
-You Are Here: An Owner's Manual for Dangerous Minds (2017) – An interactive art and coloring book
-Broken (in the best possible way) (2021)
-How to Be Okay When Nothing Is Okay: Tips and Tricks That Kept Me Alive, Happy, and Creative in Spite of Myself (2026)

If you have an Amazon Prime account, both the ebook and the audiobook of her very short essay, I Choose Darkness, are free to download and read.

The Hunt County Master Gardener Association presents its annual Fall Plant Swap! Plants must be in containers/cups, marked, and identified. The public is welcome to bring plants, bulbs, seeds, etc.
