Learn about fossils, prehistoric life, and what can be discovered right here in North Texas from someone with firsthand experience finding and identifying fossils.

This Civic Season, visit the Sam Rayburn House as we have Civics and Democracy, a free come-and-go program with a focus on the definition of civics, how voting works, and the benefits of volunteering in your community. We will also have supplies available for you to create a campaign poster for yourself or Sam Rayburn, the longest serving Speaker of the House in U.S. history. If you are between ages 18 and 30, this program is for you to learn about the democracy that you will inherit! But all ages are welcome - knowledge is power at any age. This event is presented as part of Texas America250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The Father's Day Weekend Car Show runs from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, at First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, located at 116 Oak Avenue in Sulphur Springs.

Join the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum on Saturday, June 20th from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. for 250th Kids Day.
To help celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary we will have activity stations set up in the museum so kids can make crafts like a tricorn hat, visit learning stations and see some of the items that were used to help teach kids about colonial times and the founding of our country.
A special thanks goes to Regent King’s Fort Chapter Inc., NSDAR and TISD for letting us borrow their America 250 traveling trunk program that helped us plan this day’s activities.
Admission to the event will be $3 per person and includes admission to the museum. For additional information contact the Museum at (903) 450-4502.

Description:Red, White, and Crafty is a hands-on, craft-focused summer program that invites young creators to explore art, tradition, and community through weekly creative projects. Meeting on Thursdays in July, each session features a new themed craft inspired by history, seasonal celebrations, and classic American pastimes. This program also connects to America250, encouraging participants to reflect on shared traditions and creative expression as we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States.
From festive decorations and collaborative art to sweet summer treats and fiber crafts, participants will enjoy a relaxed, fun-filled environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression, all in the historic setting of the Sam Bell Maxey House.

Delta County is hosting its first annual Freedom Fest on July 4! Hosted by the American Legion post 483, festivities will include midway games, a cornhole tournament, hot dog eating contest, silent auction, live music, and plenty of food! Running from 10 a-m until 2 at the square in downtown Cooper.
