Commerce Public Library's Adult Book Club meets on the last Thursday of each month!

For September, they're reading any book written by Jenny Lawson. Her books are nonfiction memoirs and extremely funny. The past few months have been such serious and depressing subject matter books, so it's time for a giggle break.

Here is a list of her books:

If you have an Amazon Prime account, both the ebook and the audiobook of her very short essay, I Choose Darkness, are free to download and read.

College students can gather for a meal and supportive fellowship. Someone will be available to talk to and pray with and study the Bible for those needing that service.

The 7 p.m. show this Friday is "Magic Globe: A Story of the Seasons," followed by "Tales Of A Time Traveler" narrated by David Tennant at 8 p.m.

Magic Globe: A Story of the Seasons
On vacation at her grandpa’s, a little girl named Mia accidentally discovers a mysterious piece of astronomical machinery. Edmund, Mia’s eccentric uncle, tricks the girl into using the tool’s secret powers to change the world’s seasons. She realizes the consequences of her actions, but Edmund doesn’t want to let the plan go.

Magic Globe is an engaging story designed to interest and challenge children from 5 to 12 years old. It has a clear educational structure with all science-related topics broken down into manageable chunks and naturally woven into the storyline. It allows children to recap knowledge they already have as well as learn multiple new concepts while following the story, which makes it perfect for mixed-ability audiences.

Tales Of A Time Traveler

Happening in downtown Rockwall, the San Jacinto Plaza Music series is bringing you live music on Friday and Saturday nights through October!

Friday, Oct.16 will feature Songwriter/Storyteller Scott Sean White ; Saturday, Oct. 17 will have Country Pop artist Ralyn Gayle as the headliner.

The Greenville Farmers Market will be open each Saturday through November from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with a few vendors opening early at 8:00 AM.

You’ll find:
Fresh produce from local farmers
Homemade baked goods
Specialty foods
Handmade crafts and artisan products

It’s the perfect way to spend your Saturday morning. You can shop local, support small businesses, and enjoy everything Greenville has to offer.

Lamar County residents are encouraged to gather up old tires that litter their neighborhoods and yards and come drop them off. Personal car, ATV, and pickup truck tires will be accepted, and rims must be removed. You don’t even have to leave your car as someone will be there to unload the tires for you. Participating vehicles should get in line on 1^st Street Northeast near Pine Bluff. No 18-Wheeler or tractor tires will be accepted, and commercial businesses cannot participate.
On the electronics side, Lamar County residents can drop off a wide variety of recyclable electronics and home appliances including computers, monitors, televisions, printers, stereo equipment, kitchen appliances, electronic cables and more. They’ll even take refrigerators, freezers and window A/C units, but the freon must be drained before drop off. City of Paris workers will be there to unload your items for you.

Accepted items include:

Tire Collection takes place in the east parking lot of the Lamar County Courthouse at 220 North Main, and Electronics Recycling in the north end of the main parking lot. The Electronics dropoff will run until noon, and Tire Collection will end at 10:30, or when trailers are full.

Hosted at the Commerce ISD Administration building; family friendly costumes are encouraged

There is a $10 fee to enter the event, benefiting the Commerce ISD Band Boo-sters

The Bonham Farmers Market is held every other Saturday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., starting April 4th and running through October 31st, 2026. It will be outside the Creative Arts Center, located at 200 W. Fifth Street in Bonham.

Caddo Mills presents its annual Monster Mash and Fall Stroll!

Costumes are welcome; there will be games, local vendors, and much more.

The downtown road in Caddo Mills will be closed for the event.
